Definition:
Beetles: Many families of 4-winged insects (including hundreds of thousands of species worldwide) in which only the second pair of wings is used for flying. The first pair is toughened and shortened and used only as covers for the second pair. When beetles are not flying, the second pair of wings is folded under the first pair of wings.
