Definition:

Acheta: (ack-ATE-a) A genus of crickets. A European species, Acheta domesticus, commonly called the house cricket, is now widespread in the USA. It is reared in enormous numbers commercially as bait for fishing and is sold by some pet stores as food for various insect-eating animals. It is a pest in and around buildings (though not much so in Florida), but is not a pest of grasses. See also Gryllus.
