3. Research/Extension Responsibilities
- The primary research program responsibilities are to develop
practical integrated pest management (IPM) programs for managing
arthropod pests on vegetable commodities produced on the west
coast of Florida.Within the IPM framework, population assessment,
population dynamics, action thresholds, chemical control, cultural
control, biological control and host plant resistance are emphasized.Job
duties also include demonstrating practical IPM programs to producers
and communicating current research developments to the agricultural
industry.
4. Accomplishments
- Development and implementation of IPM programs on tomato and
pepper. Collection of supporting data on the biology, biological
control, cultural control, sampling methodology, action thresholds,
and pesticidal control of Liriomyza spp. leafminers, the tomato
pinworm, the pepper weevil, and sweetpotato whitefly.
