1. Education:
- B.S.University of Florida (Entomology), 1972
- M.S.University of Florida (Entomology), 1974
- Ph.d. Clemson University (Entomology), 1977
2. Employment:
- Associate Professor (1984-present) University of Florida
- Assistant Professor (1978-1984) University of Florida
3. Research Responsibilities:
- Faculty member is responsible for providing pest management
research to support the commercial flower and related ornamental
industries and the commercial strawberry industry of Florida.Subjects
of research generally are related to biological, physical, cultural
and chemical control and biology, behavior and ecology of insect
and mites pests.
Extension Responsibilities:
- Faculty member is responsible for communicating current knowledge
of the management, biology, behavior and ecology of insects and
mites affecting commercial flower and related ornamental crops
and commercial strawberry crops to other extension personnel and
to commercial growers.
4. Accomplishments:
- Faculty member has:1) developed the research base for and
has implemented biological control of twospotted spider mites
on commercial strawberries in Florida, 2) developed information
to recommend greenhouse and other production area screening to
exclude sweetpotato (silverleaf) whitefly while allowing maximum
air movement within the facility, 3) developed data for neem based
and other biorational and traditional insecticides for management
of sweetpotato whitefly in poinsettia and other flower crops,
4) developed management information on the movement and other
behavior of sweetpotato whitefly, 5) developed management information
on the biology of the rice beetle in relation to the pest's caladium
hosts, 6) developed other information useful in the management
of arthropod pests, and 7) widely communicated results of the
above and other research.
