Research Responsibilities
To conduct basic and applied research on
insects of medical and veterinary importance.
Specific responsibilities are:
- To study the natural histories of mosquitoes and sandflies
of Florida.
- To investigate the biology and biological regulation of arthropod
transmitted diseases with special emphasis on the genetic, biochemical
and bionomics aspects of disease carrying insects.
Accomplishments
- I have conducted extensive laboratory and field studies on
the biology and bionomics of several Florida mosquitoes of medical
and veterinary importance.
- During the last few years, I have worked extensively on the
physiochemical mechanisms which control susceptibility and refractoriness
of Florida mosquitoes to malarial and filarial parasites. At present
I am working on mosquito immunity to filarial and malarial parasites.
