Cocoon : Some insect pupae are protected by a cocoon. The cocoon is make from silk, or plant fibers, or other material, by the larva before it turns into a pupa. Pupae of Larra wasps are protected by cocoons, but pupae of Ormia flies and bombardier beetles have no cocoon.
