Opportunities

I am currently building my lab and am recruiting M.S. and Ph.D. students as well as undergraduate research assistants.

Prospective Graduate Students

I am looking for motivated graduate students with research interests that are a good match for the lab. If you are interested, please send me an email including 1) a statement of the kinds of research questions that you would like to pursue, 2) a brief overview of your previous academic and research experiences, and 3) how your interests might fit in with the lab. Please also include a copy of your CV or resume, your GRE scores (if you have them), and an unofficial transcript. Funding may be available through research and/or teaching assistantships. In addition the University of Florida offers prestigious Alumni Fellowships for some of the most promising students.

Research Assistants

Research Assistantships are currently available for work on behavior, morphology, and evolution in the cactus bugs (Chelinidea vittiger and Narnia femorata). Much of this work is done in the field at The Ordway-Swisher Biological Station (http://www.ordway.ufl.edu/) or in the greenhouse. Academic credit is available, and I encourage the undergraduates working in my laboratory to apply for UF programs such as the University Scholars Program. Undergraduate assistants are expected to be motiviated, hard-working, and inquisitive. I strive to give undergraduates an exciting laboratory experience and the opportunity to learn what research is all about.
