Jim Nation has taught and conducted research at the University of Florida since 1960. He received the Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1960 in Entomology. His research specialty is the physiology and biochemistry of insects. He teaches a graduate course in this subject each fall for graduate students in the Department of Entomology and Nematology. In addition, he has taught general animal physiology and the core biological sciences course for the Zoology Dept. His most recent research work has been in the physiology of pheromones, the chemicals insects use for communication, and in the effects of ionizing radiation on insects. He has been an editor (1995-2000) for the Journal of Chemical Ecology, an international scientific journal published monthly. More information about  Jim Nation.
