The University of Florida Master Beekeeper Program (UFMBP) announces a new opportunity for Florida Beekeepers to achieve the rank of Apprentice Beekeeper. On, October 30, 2008, the day before the FSBA Annual Convention, we will host training and examinations for only the Apprentice Beekeeper Level. To become an Apprentice Beekeeper — the entry level to the program — one must be a registered Florida beekeeper at the time of the exam and have owned at least one colony of bees for at least one year.
Further, the successful candidate must score 70% or higher on both a written and practical examination offered October 30, 2008. Training for the examinations is offered the morning of October 30, 2008, but this training is not comprehensive. As such, we include this link to a suggested reading list. We highly recommend that you review at least one of the books on the reading list, as it would better prepare you for the examinations.
