The following Internet links will take you to a variety of resources that should help you with your exercises and general understanding of issues in Insect Classification. You may be expected to be able to discuss the contents and merits of these sites. Also, these will help you answer many of the questions in written exercises that you will be required to turn in.

Taxonomic lists

Nomina Nearctica - A complete (supposedly current) list of all of the Nearctica insect species. The species name listed is the most currently accepted one for the tax on. A name in parentheses after the species name is the genus in which the species was originally described. While none of the current names have author names in parentheses, if the generic name in parentheses differs from that of the currently accepted name, the correct listing for the current name would include the author name in parentheses.
