The African Honey Bee Extension & Education Program (AFBEE) is an extension and education cooperation between the University of Florida and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Plant Industry geared toward producing and distributing information about the African honey bee in Florida. We appreciate your patience as the site is being frequently updated.
3rd Annual Bee College Scheduled for March 12-13, 2010 in St. Augustine, FL
Dr. Bill Kern will again teach African Bee training for 1st responders and pest control operators. New this year will be FABIS training for those interested. FABIS is the current method of detecting levels of Africanization in wild bee colonies.
A New Two-Day First Responder Training Program is in the works!
The AFBEE program board met recently and has decided to put together a two-day first responder training program. Our goal is to be sure all first reponders in the state of Florida are trained in African Bee management. Details coming soon!
